This is the official page for the Brighton University Men's Football teams on the Falmer Campus
It’s that time of the year where we have to start thinking about next year’s committee. In past years the committee has been chosen by the president and coach, but this year we are changing the way the it is chosen.
The season draws to a close at the holy grail of football for another season tomorrow! Our first team are in a derby game against our fellow Brighton team, Eastbourne campus. We ask for all squad members who have been part of the setup this season to make their way to Falmer with whoever you can to show support. Feel free to bring beers, but please do not get involved with on pitch nonsense as we are under scrutiny as a club for two allegations against us. If you haven't already, send a message to Futers with the reason for not showing support.
With the 2nd Team finishing the season last week with a 0-0 draw, the next two Wednesdays focus on ending the 1st team's season. This week is the club's last away game of the season against Surrey. A win here would put us 4th, and win next week against eastbourne, puts us 3rd.
Meet Time: 10:15 - due to a 2hr train journey, must catch the train together from Moulsecoomb at 10:54.
1st XI to play Surrey - Teamsheet
Wednesday sees the last game of the season for the 2nd team, which spells the end of a few of the boys' last game in the purple shirt. We are at home against Chichester (bottom of the league). We expect those not named in the squad to be in attendance to show support. We have other spectators showing their support, so there is no excuse.
Meet time: 12:30 - panther tracksuit
2nd Team XI to face Chichester - Teamsheet
Let's win this game as a whole squad. PL x B
There is only one game this week, the 2s are at home against Royal Holloway. Last time we played this lot, we lost a 9 goal thriller 5-4. This will be an entertaining one. Due to varsity, which our campus is not part of, we have an earlier kick off at 13:00. Expect a good turnout from the first team players to show their support, and also anyone else you would like to bring.
Meet time: 11:45 (LATEST)
Bring: Any shirts that haven't been returned, black shorts and socks.
Both teams in action this week for the first time in a long time. The 1s host Canterbury CC 2nd in the Semi-Final of the South Eastern Conference Cup. Both teams came out 3-2 winners in their respected QF ties and a close match is expected at Falmer. The 2s are away at LSE 3rd, where we were 3-0 victors in our first win of the season, a win would see us within 3 points off 4th, with a game in hand.
1st XI - 12:30 Falmer Pavillion
2nd XI - 10:30 Cockcroft Lobby
Last week saw the 1s continue their cup run, now into the Semi Finals against Canterbury 1st, game to be played on the 27th.
Only the one a game this week. 1s entertaining Roehampton 1st at home. Must win against bottom of the league.
Those not picked for the squad are expected to attend based on the availability that was given to Carney. Last push to make this season as successful as possible!
Meet time: 12:45
Non Playing squad: 13:45
1st XI to play Roehampton - Teamsheet
The holy grail of football is hosting the only Brighton University football team to get to the cup QF. Having beaten Eastbourne Campus' first team in the last round, this game is the first of three games we must win to get our hands on some silverware this season.
Those not included in the squad, MUST give a valid excuse for not being there. We are a whole team, and the support encourages your friends who are playing! Bring your housemates, bring whoever, bring beers, biggest game of the season!
Both teams in action for the last time at the holy grail of football on the same day. Time for both teams to really dig in for the last push of the season. The 1s entertain St. Mary's which was a 3-2 loss in October, while the 2s entertain top of the league Royal Holloway who are sitting top of the league, ended 5-4 at their dump.
For the 1s, to take a win into the QF of the cup next week is a must, and will do wonders for that game.
For the 2s, to show we aren't pushovers, and start the last 3 games with a win.
